OSHO: WHAT IS IT?
The Oromia Self-Help Organization (OSHO) is non-political and non-religious humanitarian organization founded in 1991 with the aim of contributing to relief, rehabilitation and development efforts in the Oromiya Region.


Establishment & Registration
OSHO was established in 1991 to contribute in the areas of relief, rehabilitation and development endeavors specifically in Oromia and elsewhere in Ethiopia as the need arises.
Having fulfilled all the necessary government requirements OSHO is re-registered as civil society organization with the Agency for Civil Society Organizations ( ACSO) Bearing Certificate No..0262 and the license is renewed for unlimited time.

“OSHO’s vision is to contribute towards sustainable livelihoods security and increased resilience of target rural communities in Oromia”
MISSION
“OSHO works to undertake sustainable, community based and environmental friendly integrated social and economic development programs to enhance the living standards of the people in Oromia Region through implementation of participatory water resource development, climate change resilience, food security, social protection and capacity building initiatives in both sedentary and pastoral areas”

MISSION
Objectives
- Aware/initiate communities to utilize locally available development potential,
- Assist needy communities financially, materially and technically to solve their felt need socio-economic problem,
- Undertake environmental, forest and climate change, wash, irrigation and infrastructure development, agriculture, food and nutrition security, gender, social inclusion and youth development, enhanced citizen responsive governance ( social accountability) and organizational capacity development
- Improve women’s participation in all development endeavors,
- Participate in emergency relief activities when deemed necessary
